I am satisfied with some elements of the build, and dissatisfied (spelling?) with others - but en generale, I'm happy. It's my first model in 1:48, took me a looong time to build it, it was a great experience and an opportunity to learn and try some new techniques. I will definitely be more careful and pay attention to details on my next projects.
The cockpit was typical of ESCI: flat surfaces with decals to stand in for details. I've scratchbuilt as much as I could without a decent set of drillbits (the things you make holes with): it is a bit simplistic, but I made it probably some seven years ago - today, I'd go for more details inside. The original piece of plastic was substituted with a seat from Italeri's Tornado: I know it is of wrong type, but it does look waaay better than the original one. Accuracy will be something I'll seek in my upcoming projects. Oxygen hose was made out of the wolfram (?) spyral wire out of a lightbulb, with a piece of ordinary wire thread through it. I was trying to put some stickers on the side of the headrest, but these turned out ugly. I'm fairly content with the HUD, though...
The gun bays needed to be deepened for the barrells to sit in even half-properly...
The brown dry pastel on the underside was a bit too light, I'll get a darker shade next time...
Weathering on the upper side of the wing...
I'm happy with how the inside of the exhaust turned out, and there's room for improvement for the future outer sides...
And some overall shots...
I made some mistakes along the way and took some shortcuts, I know, but still, I'm happy with how it turned out... I plan to do no such thing (or, much less, at liest) on my future projects.
